Almaeena urges Muslims to seek higher education Manila, 17 February 2009 — Arab News Editor in Chief Khaled A. Almaeena yesterday exhorted Filipino Muslims and other Muslims living as minorities in other countries “not to wallow in self-pity” and to strive for higher education instead of complaining of discrimination.
In a keynote speech at the opening of the International Symposium on Muslim Education at the Manila Hotel, Almaeena said Muslim minorities “should try to absorb themselves and be part of the system ... rather than say that we are being victimized.”
“They may be victimized but through education they can achieve anything ... while maintaining one’s identity, one can try to be part of the system,” he said.

I just want to tell you that I really like to read the interesting articles and electronic books on the CD-Roms. These articles are very useful and have helped me improve my eeman (faith). I hope more participants will join the Islamic Learning Programme. Alexander Abu Bakar Stark MA Sociology, Heidelberg University, Germany Neckarstr, Remseck, Germany Note: Abu Bakar is currently pursuing Doctor of Islamic Studies at WISHES. The course material is very well-organized and comprehensive in both scope and content. It adequately and adeptly covers the professional literature and writings authored by renowned specialists in the various disciplines of Islamic Studies, whether in English or translations into English of original texts in Arabic. As a United Nations bilingual professional (Arabic/English), I think the versatile course materials translated into English from the original Arabic, are rendered in a straightforward, plain and easy-to-grasp manner, which should pose no difficulty whatsoever for non-native speakers of Arabic to easily come to grip with the meanings and connotations of the original texts in Arabic. On the other hand, the method of tutoring the course material is intriguingly proactive and interactive and flexibly allows for frank exchanges and prompt feedback between students and supervisors within the parameters of a serious and rigorous graduate study programme, especially when we look at both the course content and tutoring method as equally important and complementary to each other.

The Islamic electronic books compiled by the Wisdom Enrichment Foundation (WEFOUND) are very valuable, useful and informative because they are based on authentic knowledge of Islam from the well-known scholars. The authentic knowledge of Islam is the most important knowledge needed in today's world perplexing situation. It helps both Muslims and non-Muslims understand that Islam is a religion of truth, peace, love, mercy, cooperation, unity and other good morals that introduced to the world the concept of human rights more than 14 centuries ago. It also helps combat terrorism or killing innocent people, gangsters, drug addictions, cheating, and all sorts of evil deeds. I, therefore, highly encourage everybody to study them (the WEFOUND Islamic books) in order to learn more about Islam correctly.
